What is the UN Young Professionals Programme?


The Young Professionals Programme (YPP) is a recruitment initiative for talented, highly qualified professionals to start a career as an international civil servant with the United Nations Secretariat. It consists of an entrance examination and professional development programmes once successful candidates start their career with the UN.

Application period

The application period is open from 11 June through 9 August 2018 (closes at 11:59 PM New York time). Please log in to inspira.un.org to view and apply to the Job Openings (JO).

Who can apply?

The YPP examination is held once a year and is open to nationals of countries participating in the annual recruitment exercise. The list of participating countries is published annually and varies from year to year.


Basic application criteria:

You must have the nationality of a participating country.
You must hold at least a first-level university degree relevant for the exam subject you are applying for.
You must be 32 or younger in the year of the examination.
You must be fluent in either English or French.

Participating Countries

Each year, countries that are un- or under-represented in the United Nations, are invited to take part in the Young Professionals Programme.

Participation of staff of the United Nations

This examination is also held for staff members of the United Nations Secretariat who work within the General Service and other related categories and aspire to a career within the Professional and higher categories. Exam subjects

Depending on the staffing needs of the United Nations, applicants are invited to apply for different exam subjects. Descriptions of responsibilities, expected competencies and education requirements differ depending on the area.

25 June 1975 BLACK DAY FOR INDIA (EMERGENCY)

25 June which is considered as black day for india. It was 25 June 1975 when Prime Minister Shri Indri Gandhi declared Emergency through radio in India. In India, "the Emergency" refers to a 21-month period from 1975 to 1977, Officially issued by President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed under Article 352 of the Constitution, the Emergency was in effect from 25 June 1975 until its withdrawal on 21 March 1977. The order bestowed upon the Prime Minister the authority to rule by decree, allowing elections to be suspended and civil liberties to be curbed. For much of the Emergency, most of Gandhi's political opponents were imprisoned and the press was censored. Several other human rights violations were reported from the time, including a forced mass-sterilization campaign spearheaded by Sanjay Gandhi, the Prime Minister's son. Collision of galaxies, images taken by hubble

The interaction between galaxies is an on going process in universe. However the merging of big galaxies with each other on average once over the past 9 billion years. But Small galaxies were coalescing with large galaxies more frequently. In fact, our own Milky Way galaxy had several such mergers with small galaxies in its recent past. In the combination of galaxies there is no collision of stars with eath other, it is the dust and other material which collapse and billions of stars are born, mostly in groups and clusters of stars.
